Overview: Bio Diesel produced from farmed algae via catalytic hydroprocessing consists of mixtures of liquid fatty acid methyl esters and insoluble materials are discarded as waste.
Technology: Biodiesel and several valuable co-products including insoluble alkenones in the kerosene/jet fuel range (primarily C10-, C12-, and C17- hydrocarbons) and fucoxanthin, a hihg-valued carotenoid, are produced in parallel from a single batch of the marine microalgae Isochrysis.
