Overview: An improved method for utilizing carbon emissions in biofuel manufacturing processes and analyzing the growth of organisms capable of producing biofuel products via radiocarbon monitoring which may be useful for tracking the commercial and/or environmental fate of the fuels.
Technology: This technology describes a system for using radiocarbon in measuring percentages of fossil fuel-derived carbon incorporated in algae or their biofuel products to guide the design and modification of biofuel manufacturing processes. In addition, this provides a method for growing photosynthetic organisms underwater with controlled fossil carbon feedstocks to analyze precise radiocarbon content to monitor yield and generate biofuel products.
